Re: Suckswatch

Strelnikov points out in a thread I can't link to that it's all getting a bit pointless. I can only agree.

Re: Wikipediocracy's failure is a joy to watch

I suppose it's helpful that Midsize Jake lays out the ground rules for WO's political stance so clearly. It was perhaps inevitable that the first rule of WO would be "Everything is Trump's fault" but perhaps a little more surprising that the second is "Only say nice things about George Soros" . Paul...

Re: Wikipediocracy's failure is a joy to watch

By all means discuss GW's actions if you wish, although I believe there is another thread for that. My point was that WO denizens have conspicuously failed to take the opportunity to ask GW the key question: Do you think that you were right to ban someone summarily solely because you disapprove of t...

Re: Wikipediocracy's failure is a joy to watch

Meanwhile WO is having a really hard-hitting exchange with Gorilla Warfare over her block of User:TaylanUB for crimethink over the balance between womens' rights and trasngender rights. The questioning can best be summarised as "Tell us, GW, exactly why you were right to indefinitely block someone f...

Re: Wikipediocracy's failure is a joy to watch

I think we can pretty much say that Wikipedia criticism is at a low ebb. The WO crowd seem to have replaced nearly all the old guard with a crowd of what I'll call "tweakers" -- people who believe that WP can be fixed (whatever that means) with a few minor changes. WS seems to be a private blog of C...

Re: Breitbart Banned as Reliable Source

The closest idiom I'm aware of is "the weakest go to the wall". The claimed origin is that this refers to people trying to get a good seat in church.

Re: Katherine Maher, executive director Wikimedia Foundation

I'm guessing that Katherine is on her way up and out. Spending most of her time out of the office, talking up her progressive credentials, moonlighting at other foundations ... expect her gone in the next six months.

Re: WikiTribune

It seems that WikiTribune has laid off all its paid staff, according to this blog post by a former employee (link courtesy of WO ). Fortunately they have made Dysklyver a trusted user. Now is the time for all good people, etc: you can sign up or join their Slack group directly at this link . To quot...
